Clear PVC Soft Film vs PVC Strip Curtain vs PVC Tarpaulin: What's the Difference?
Choose by the format and application—not simply by asking for clear PVC or comparing thickness numbers.
System comparison
Magnetic PVC is a separate system. It does not use the conventional overlap, hanger or Ready-to-Install rules.
The short version
Customers sometimes ask simply for "clear PVC" - and in everyday conversation you may even hear "transparent nylon". That is not enough information to choose the product. PVC strip curtain, clear soft film and transparent PVC tarpaulin can all look clear and flexible, but they are sold in different formats for different jobs.
- PVC strip curtain - narrow strips designed to overlap across a doorway or opening.
- Clear PVC soft film - flexible transparent PVC sheet/film used where continuous material is required rather than doorway strips.
- Transparent PVC tarpaulin - larger sheet format used for covers, partitions and fabricated barrier applications depending on the grade.
Use the application to choose the format
If people or trolleys need to pass repeatedly through an opening, start with PVC strip curtains. If you need a continuous flexible transparent sheet for fabrication or protection, start with clear PVC soft film. If the job is a larger cover or sheet-style barrier, transparent PVC tarpaulin may be the better category to discuss.
Thickness numbers are not interchangeable
A 0.5 mm film and a 3 mm PVC strip are not competing versions of the same product. Their formats and intended jobs are different. Always compare within the correct category before using thickness as the deciding factor.
Send dimensions in the form the product needs
For strip curtains, send opening width and height. For film or tarpaulin, describe the required sheet dimensions, fabrication or coverage area. That allows Fruges to route the enquiry correctly.
Next step
Continue with the right product route
Choose the product category that matches the application. If you are still unsure, send a photo and describe what the material needs to do rather than asking only for 'clear PVC'.
