Magnetic PVC Strip Curtains vs Ordinary PVC Strip Curtains: Which Is Right for Your Doorway?

Magnetic and ordinary overlapping PVC curtains use different system rules and should be assessed separately.

System comparison

Magnetic PVC is a separate system. It does not use the conventional overlap, hanger or Ready-to-Install rules.

The short version

Magnetic and ordinary PVC curtains can look like close relatives, but they are not simply two hardware choices inside the same calculator. Ordinary Fruges curtains work with overlapping strips on the conventional hanging system; magnetic curtains use a different closing arrangement and are handled separately.

Ordinary overlapping PVC strip curtains

The conventional system uses individual PVC strips arranged with a defined overlap. It is well suited to many factory, warehouse, workshop and access openings and can be supplied as conventional rolls or, for qualifying openings, Ready-to-Install.

Magnetic PVC curtains

Magnetic PVC curtains are designed around magnetic closing behaviour rather than the standard one-hole overlap logic used by Fruges' conventional system. That difference affects product selection, configuration and quotation, so magnetic curtains are kept outside the conventional/RTI self-service calculator.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose ordinary overlapping PVC when you want the proven conventional Fruges strip system and the opening fits that workflow. Consider magnetic when the magnetic closing action is genuinely useful for the doorway. Magnetic is not automatically "better", and conventional is not "old-fashioned" - the right answer depends on the job.
  • Treat magnetic PVC as a dedicated system. Send the opening dimensions, traffic pattern, fixing details and doorway photos so Fruges can review whether the magnetic route is appropriate.
  • For high-traffic, vehicle, unusual fixing or specialist-environment applications, share the opening dimensions, traffic and photos before relying on a generic comparison.

Avoid a common mistake

Do not select magnetic hardware and then apply the conventional overlap, hanger or Ready-to-Install rules to it. Treat it as its own system.

Next step

Continue with the right product route

Request staff review for a magnetic enquiry and include the opening dimensions, traffic and doorway photos. For ordinary overlapping PVC, use the conventional/Ready-to-Install guide and calculator.
