How to Measure a Door Opening for a PVC Strip Curtain

Record the full opening width and full height; installation clearance is handled later.

Measuring the full width and height of a doorway for a PVC strip curtain

The short version

For each opening, give us the full width and full height. Do not "help" the calculation by subtracting a little for floor clearance yourself - that clearance is handled at installation stage.

What to record

  1. Full opening width.
  2. Full opening height.
  3. A simple opening name when there is more than one, such as Dispatch, Store Room or Main Entrance.
  4. A clear photo showing the opening and the proposed fixing area.
  5. The main traffic type: pedestrian, trolley, pallet or vehicle.

Measure the opening, not the old curtain

Do not measure an old curtain and assume it is correct. If the existing strips were cut short, stretched, badly overlapped or installed years ago, copying them simply repeats the same problem. Measure the actual opening.

Keep units consistent

Use metres or millimetres consistently and double-check decimal points. A width of 1.8 m is 1,800 mm; a typing error such as 18 m completely changes the material requirement.

Multiple openings

Record every opening separately. Once you have the full width and height for each one, use the PVC calculator or send the measurements to Fruges on WhatsApp.

Why full height matters

Floor clearance is an installation decision, not a measurement shortcut. Fruges' installation guidance handles an appropriate finished clearance; the supply calculation should start from the full opening height.

Before you submit

Measure twice, photograph the opening and check that there is a suitable fixing surface above or around the opening. If the fixing condition is unusual, send the photo before ordering.

Next step

Continue with the right product route

Once the dimensions are confirmed, enter them in the PVC calculator. For unusual openings, send Fruges the dimensions and photos for staff review.
